My best friend did this with her little boy until he started kindergarden, then the school asked her if she would cut it because he was getting teased so much.
She wanted a girl when he was born and she usually put his hair in pigtails, often with little bows on the end. People would say, "what a pretty little girl" and she'd just smile and say "He is very pretty, but he's a boy."
He's 15 now and it does seem to have affected him, but I don't think it's a good idea.

no wonder we have more and more young people with gender issues.!?..............

Well, I wouldn't go as far as you all to say his hair is absolutely ridiculous and his mother is a moron, my sons have long hair and I do love long hair on boys. But I must agree that this is a bit toooo long for me and that the bangs are just an absolute no-no for boys of any age.

My sister did this to her second son (no-where near as long as this though) and I think it was because psychologically she wanted him to be a girl - she did desperately want a girl. Elle McPherson has two boys - Goldie Hawn's daughter (I can't remember her name) has one son with long hair - maybe it is because the mother wanted a girl and got a boy. Whatever the reason it is stupid and cruel to the boys who have to endure any ridicule that comes with having girl hair. The mothers who do this are morons and idiots.

He has BANGS!
I'm ok with the long haired boys... sometimes my 5 and 4 year old go without haircuts long enough to look like the kids from Suite Life of Zach and Cody... but this kid looks Jon-Benet girly.
Little boys should not have bangs. Hell, men should not have bangs. If the haircut wouldn't work on a surfer dude, it shouldn't be on a little boy. That's my new rule.

She wants him to look like a girl for the same reason she insists on dressing like a hooker when she's with him.

That kid looks like a girl. Little boys do not belong with long hair. Cut it already!

This kid is going to have issues because I guarantee other kids unknowingly call him "she" all the time. I HATE mothers who try to make their kids look "cool" =( He is alot prettier than his mom is though =)

long hair can be cute on boys, but this goes too far. when it's cascading down his shoulders and is styled with bangs....well thats ridiculous

you know it's time to hit the hair saloons when even your son is sporting a better haircut and dye job than your ass...lol...

his hair is waaaay too long! Why would you do that to your son, he must be mistaken for a girl all the time!
Posted by: suze | July 02, 2007 at 09:33 AM
This is a boy, not a little girl. This is ridiculous.

I don't mind long hair for boys. But whoah, that is such a girlie haircut.
Very strange.

I completely agree with Jen. He is too old for the long hair look. She is so beautiful, I am sure he would be very good looking with shorter hair. Plus having there hair longer is more work.

I do not get the "long hair on boys" thing. Why any mother would want her male child to look obviously feminine is absolutely beyond me.
