Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt’s daughter Zahara, 2 1/2, may be facing surgery to treat her hip dysplasia, which is when there is an improper connection between the hip and thighbone. If untreated, the condition could affect the way Zahara walks and runs as she gets older.
A source tells the Star magazine, the couple "will do whatever it takes" to ensure their child is "happy and healthy".
The source adds, "Brad and Angelina have talked with their pediatrician, who told them Zahara may need to have surgery."
Little Zahara has been through a lot already. When she was adopted from Ethiopia in 2005 , she was suffering from malnutrition, dehydration and a fractured arm. She also had salmonella poisoning.
Added 9/13/07 4:08-I should have mentioned this the first go around, but that's why I posted the two pictures. Yes, she is always carried around, but she sure didn't have any problems playing chase in the park. She could still have hip dysplasia, and without surgery, it would worsen with age.
Update 9/14/07
Brad Pitt's rep, Cindy Guagenti, has told www.TheCelebrityTruth.com that the rumors regarding Zahara needing hip surgery are "not true".

I just heard about this on GlobalGrind.com, but I also heard on other websites that Angelina and Brad are dismissing these rumors. Either way, I hope Zahara is okay and I know her parents will do whatever it takes to get her better.

I bet this is true. I remember that there were pictures a couple months back where Brad Pitt was taking Zahara and Pax to school and you could tell that something was wrong with the way Zahara walked.
Regardless, I would think that Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie would do whatever is necessary to help their child, even if they don't go public with the information.

Essie-I did put an update in the post

Will see if a more credible 'source' comes out w/ the news

You're quoting Star now??? Nobody should believe anything they say. If Zee had a hip problem she certainly would not be running in the park and jumping onto ropes the way she's been doing lately.
